LANSING — It’s that time for singing national anthems, wearing red-white-and-blue clothing and publicly oohing and aahing.
There’s plenty to celebrate this Independence Day, and several events to choose from. Note that the annual Delta Township July 3 fireworks show has been cancelled over cost concerns. The event drew large crowds from across the region, but Delta Township officials canceled the show after Eaton County voters rejected a 2 mill tax proposal aimed at funding Eaton County Sheriff’s Office road patrols and staff.

Eaton Rapids: Downtown will be the place for a 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 3 Chalk Fest. Bounce houses and food trucks will be at the Martin Hansen Amphitheater until dark and a movie, “Moana 2,” is planned for the amphitheater. The downtown fun continues July 4 with a craft/vendor show, parade, food trucks, Kid’s Zone and fireworks.
Mason: An Independence Day Parade will leave Rayner Park at 7 p.m. July 3. A 10:15 p.m. July 3 fireworks show will ring in the holiday at the Ingham County Fairgrounds, 700 E. Ash St.
Lansing: An Independence Day Parade will begin at 11 a.m. July 4 at the Capitol Loop. A holiday concert is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Adado Riverfront Park with fireworks to follow.
